The Ropetackle has been nominated for The Argus Guide Going Out awards in the Best Theatre/Performance Venue category.

Staffed by volunteers, the friendly community atmosphere brings out the best from performers and Fortione commented as such during his superb two-hour guitar masterclass.

He has been called the 21st century Jimi Hendrix of the acoustic guitar and his unique blend of many different styles brought a rapturous response from the sold-out crowd which marvelled at the wizardry of the Italian's flying fingers and mesmerising instrumentals.

A charismatic artist, he moved from dynamic attack to delicate touch with as many moods and surprises as the sea.

Beside him was Brazilian Adriano Adewale, percussionist extraordinaire. Together they shared an intimate dialogue, borne over ten years of touring, that was warm, fun, and full of joy. Indeed they started with Tears of Joy, guided us through various atmospheric African landscapes, and finished with some fun cabaret-esque pieces that charmingly engaged without pandering to gimmickry.

Fortione was gracious about his return to the Ropetackle and complimentary about the exceptional sound quality. Shoreham had witnessed the very best of two special musicians.
