Wampire brought their UK tour to a haunting close with a blistering showcase of mind-exploring psych-rock.
Recent release, Bazaar has received rave reviews for its original and versatile sound, and a packed out Green Door Store was shown why the band are tipped as one to watch for the future with a satisfyingly captivating set.
A solid, compact performance gave fans a perfect dose of Wampire’s sinister brilliance. Slow-building, melancholic intros blossomed into huge, head-banging riffs, whilst blessed-out synth melodies eerily circulated around the room, underneath intensely unpredictable instrumentals.
Thomas Hoganson’s experimental drumming style captivated onlookers, while frontmen, Eric Phipps and Rocky Tinder, effortlessly jammed out on guitar.
A relaxed atmosphere can make or break intimate shows, and the down-to-earth nature of the Portland based five-piece really enhanced the night.
Tinder regularly chatted with the audience in-between tracks, with funny complimentary comments about the city the chosen theme for the night.
The group’s most well-known track, The Hearse was last on the bill. A perfectly well worked mid-song interlude built up to a brilliantly enhanced outro to bring a memorable gig to a euphoric close.
