The perfect cure for the January blues, Bugged Out Weekender took over Butlins holiday park in Bognor for a weekend of music, fun and debauchery.
Two vast venues catered for most of the attendees, with numerous pop-up rooms, bars and mini-clubs for those who wanted to get away from the crowds.
With music starting in the evenings and going on until morning, this was definitely a party for the night owls, though the pool was well utilized throughout the afternoons, with inflatables, rubber balls and a surprise set by Fatboy Slim making it one of the weekend’s most fun places to be.
The line-up was fairly safe, featuring old hands like The Chemical Brothers and Mike Skinner alongside party starters such as Tiga, Dense & Pika and Daniel Avery.
The discovery of secret parties – the Mixmag one that started at 3am on Sunday was a particular highlight – and short-lived free bars doling out glowsticks and shots made for an atmosphere of excitement and unpredictability.
The crowd were predominantly very young and well-behaved, the staff and security were friendly, and the whole weekend ran smoothly.
Even a fire alarm during Todd Terje’s set didn’t disrupt the fun too much. Great job, Bugged Out.
