The Force was definitely strong in the hundred or so enthusiastic disco dancers packed into the Spiegeltent on Monday.

Mini Luke Skywalkers and Princess Leias strutted their storm-trooping stuff at the sold out children’s event.

Parents and children alike embraced the May the Fourth Star Wars fancy dress theme – clearly pitched at the dads more than the youngsters who probably would know their Death Stars from their Millennium Falcons – but still obviously enjoyed brandishing light sabres.

MyMiniDisco perfectly pitch their parties to young families, and their popularity was evident by the queues round the Steine of families desperately hoping for the chance of a spare ticket.

DJs, balloons, dance offs and healthy snacks for the kids. A soundtrack from the 1990s and a fully licensed bar for the mums and dads.

While a hundred toddlers dancing their heads off might sound like hell to many, all of the children seemed enthralled – one entertainer dressed as a Stormtrooper was heard to lament being attacked from all sides everytime he ventured into the dance floor.

This year’s Spiegeltent location suited the event perfectly – with the opportunity to step outside and take a breather when the screaming children and strobe lights all got a bit too much.
