The California based four-piece put on a rapid pop-punk party at The Hub to satisfy an eager crowd on Friday.

The band seemed just as anxious as their fans, as they set up at the end of the tunnel venue. Although slightly delayed due to technical difficulties, which did not go down well with frontman, Barry Johnson, the group still managed to cram a dozen songs into a wildly energetic set.

Joyce Manor prefer to do their damage in short spells, with each number barely reaching the two-minute mark. Although musically there is a lack in originality, the band made up for it with their immense passion.

Anthemic, guitar driven tracks provided the basis for Johnson to shout over, before huge guitar solos were busted out.

An intimate feel surrounded the show, with Johnson constantly joking with his audience. Tracks were met with a wave of fist-pumps and crowd-surfers, and emotive, teen-angst riddled lyrics were rowdily chanted back by fans. This clearly delighted Johnson, who paused briefly to explaining how keen he was to return.

Catalina Fight Song brought the carnage to a close. Now the the eager anticipation for their promised return begins.
