It has been a long journey since British Sea Power first starting packing out the Brighton club scene just over a decade ago.

Making a homecoming the indie rock six-piece packed a sweltering Concorde 2 to baying die-hards in a warm-up for their upcoming 12th anniversary shows.

The band took to the leafy Midsummer Night’s Dream-esque stage joined by long departed member Eamon Hamilton on keyboards.

Launching into a full nostalgia trip performance of debut album The Decline Of British Sea Power punctuated with a second set of hits.

The band brimmed with unbridled energy with screeching guitars bolstered with heavily lavishing of piano and viola stood alongside the ever passionate vocal of front man Yan Wilkinson.

While British Sea Power did not leave a note out of place, with full album sets is you have to show off records warts and all, with tracks which may be bumped off the set list being obliged to appear.

The result was a show which dragged - especially as the band forayed into extended jams with a set which pushed the two hour mark.

I think for something billed as a homecoming show it often came off more indulgent than intimate.
