Little Angel Theatre's puppet adaption of We’re Going On A Bear Hunt benefited from beautiful music and original lyrics by Barb Jungr.

The family expedition, based on the book by Michael Rosen, involved a series of challenges including a grassy bank, a cold river, squelchy mud, the dark forest, a bear cave and a snow storm.

Each time the characters faced the same predicament: “We can’t go over it, we can’t go under it, we’ve got to go through it”.

Children and adults alike were transfixed by the life-like intricate movements of the characters which included the family, pet dog, an owl, a deer and of course the bear.

Alexander Scott stood out combining his expressive guitar playing with puppeteering but all four performers demonstrated exquisite skill with puppetry and delightful singing.

This 45- minute production was livened up by some up-beat humorous song lyrics such as: “Mud, mud, I love it so much, I want to see mud on every part of me.” And “A bear with big feet will make us all mincemeat”.

Every one cheered at the end as the puppets made it home to bed.
