A Moderat show is not something you watch or simply take-in. It is an experience.
Your feet have an uncontrollable need to tap, fingers drum and hips shake. Moderat draw an unshakeable need to dance from the audience and feed off of it.
There are plenty of seats at the Dome, but from the midpoint of the German trio’s set few saw much use as these pied pipers of electronica enticed euphoria from the audience.
It was a phenomenal hour and 45 minutes of musical release.
Moderat are of the few dance acts capable of putting out a an album cohesive and listenable to those outside of crate diggers and dance aficionados but they remain at their best in a live arena.
The show is not flash. Sascha Ring AKA Apparat takes charge of vocals and keys whilst the Modeselektor boys handle further controls in front of visuals mostly drawn by fellow German artist Siriusmo.
After working through an amped up performance of latest release III, the trio began to intersperse older hits and by the time of their second encore no could leave saying they had missed a beat of their favourite Moderat material. It was simply a stunning performance.
