Beardyman has the best job in the world but, even so, there were places his improvisation took him that even he didn’t enjoy. Like when he MCd about Nigel Farage.
Serious political issues were turned into comedy and silly audience suggestions were turned into serious music. He had a noise for everything and everything had a noise. Which meant he could use absolutely anything as a muse and the possibilities were infinite.
In light of this, he sang a lot of songs revolving around the male genitalia.
The theatre provided the sound and lighting to recreate a club onstage, which was very effective. It was just a shame we were all sitting down.
It was fascinating to watch the creative process as he translated the hyperactive thoughts in his head into music in real time.
He was aided by a bit of kit that he called the Beardytron 5000 Mark 2.
Before the show, we were asked to make up song titles which were then given to him.
Most of them proved to be a hindrance in the making of the live album but some great tracks like Why Don’t We All Go To Mars? were also produced.
