Amongst The Stars is a charming interactive mystery tour around Theatre Royal Brighton.
Written by Herringbone Arts for four to seven-year-olds, it features Mrs Nye Chart, the old theatre manager, and Mr Bell who plays Twinkle Twinkle on his trombone.
Mrs Nye Chart has lost her star necklace and our mission is to find it somewhere in the theatre.
Each scene takes place in beautifully decorated little ante-rooms, by an ornate mirror or in the welcomingly warm auditorium.
The necklace is quickly recovered but more importantly the adorning stars must be located.
The audience is split into two groups, the red stars with Mr Bell and the blue with Mrs Nye Chart, meeting midway to compare findings and swap tour leaders.
Eva Savage, who normally works in the box office, plays Mrs Nye Chart and Andy Cresswell, whose day job is front-of-house, is Mr Bell.
They enjoy a slightly flirty relationship and inclusive comradery abounds, especially to the small audience.
They spin the show along with professional slickness and indulge in individual needs.
This is a brilliantly designed Christmas piece offering magic and pleasure, while demanding a certain beadiness from the audience.
