The great thing about tribute bands, or in this case a whole show “direct from the USA”, is that the fans get exactly what they want. No obscure tracks from the third album or waiting for the encore for favourites. With tribute shows you get hits, from beginning to end.

And what an amazing roster of hits this show has. From the opening Ain’t No Mountain High Enough to Signed, Sealed, Delivered at the end, there were endless million-sellers from the likes of The Supremes, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Martha Reeves, The Jackson 5 and many more.

Taking on the legacy of these songs, most of which really can be called classics, could be daunting, but the performers were up to the job. They were bright, polished and professional, and that was just the band. The singers, three girls and four guys, were superb vocally and were aided by slick choreography, dazzling costumes and a sense of fun.

A couple of the impersonations were a little close to parody but there was no doubting the talent, especially from leading lady Rebecca Freckleton and leading man Andre Lejeune, that kept the audience in party mood throughout. There was dancing in the street - well, in the aisles - but the show would have worked better without the seating.

There were many standouts, including Midnight Train To Georgia, Superstition, My Guy, Under The Boardwalk and the joyous Jackson 5 finale, including Blame It On The Boogie and Rockin’ Robin, which brought a long and deserved standing ovation. Great stuff.
