Beardyman

From: Brighton

Profile: Beardyman, real name Darren Foreman, is one of Brighton’s most singular talents.

He has been crowned UK Beatbox champion twice, sold out a run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and confused the heck out of talent agent Chuck Harris on the BBC’s 2007 talent show When Will I Be Famous?

He has also pioneered the use of live-looping, producing his beatbox skills live on stage.

And now, following regular club nights with DJ JFB and guest appearances with Groove Armada and Fatboy Slim, the beatboxer is set to launch his first official recordings.

Late last year he was signed to Rob Da Bank’s Sunday Best Recordings, which is set to release his debut I Done A Album on Monday, March 21.

The album mixes comic skits with fully formed songs, taking ideas from Balkan, African and Bollywood music, as well as funk, electro-wonk, IDM, chill-out and drum and bass genres.

This Monday sees the twisted electro-ballad Where Does Your Mind Go, the first single from that collaboration with producer Tom Middleton, hit the racks. This week’s download is a special mix of that single by U-Phonix.
