How long have you been doing an Elton John tribute for?

I started performing as Sir Elton in 2007 for the Legends Show in Blackpool.

What first inspired this love of Elton John?

I felt a strong connection with Elton and Bernie’s music from a very early age.

What does it take for you to get into that character, given what a big personality he has?

I trained as an actor for 4 years, and have appeared on stage & TV numerous times, most recently in ITV’s Emmerdale.

Getting into character is like slipping on a nice pair of comfy shoes these days, but it has taken a great deal of research and will always be a work in progress.

When you first started this adventure did you notice any similarities between Elton and yourself?

One of the most important things to to when you’re representing a real life character is to empathise with them.

A huge amount of Sir Elton’s life has been played out in the public eye or recorded in biographies, so it’s easy to empathise with him on many levels.

My son Charlie shares Sir Elton’s birthday on March 25th.

Do you feel like him when you’re on stage?

There’s never a point when I think that I am Sir Elton either on stage or otherwise. I do my best to channel him though.

Is there a line where Jimmy ends and Elton begins?

Yes definitely.

Do you have a favourite song to perform on stage?

Love Lies Bleeding

How much are you looking forward to bringing your show to the bandstand?

This will be my third visit to Eastbourne Bandstand and I am looking forward to coming back immensely.

Is there a difference to performing in such an interesting location, as opposed to a regular show?

Yes, being an outdoor venue, Eastbourne Bandstand is always an exciting and refreshing venue to play.

What can fans expect from your show at the bandstand?

My band and I are ready to deliver a rock and roll show that Elton and his band would be proud of!

Expect all the hits... and more!
