Every year the Glyndebourne Festival delights visitors from across the country and beyond, putting on spectacular shows that hark back to classic theatre and opera.

Today Barbe and Doucet are directing the first new production of Mozart’s Die Zauberflote at Glyndebourne for more than a decade.

The classic tale is about true love conquering all and this production has an exciting cast and script which have already drawn rave reviews.

If that’s not your cup of tea then tomorrow sees a battle of wits take place in the Handel opera Rinaldo.

Brighton Open Air Theatre

Dyke Road Park, Hove

There are two shows on at the Open Air Theatre this weekend for the family to enjoy in a beautiful outdoor setting.

Today the Folksy Theatre company is putting on an adaptation of the Shakespeare classic A Comedy Of Errors.

Tickets cost £12 of £10 for concessions and the show starts at 7pm.

Tomorrow Illyria puts on Ali Baba And The Forty Thieves, an excellent show to give your youngsters their first taste of theatre.

Luna Beach Cinema

Madeira Drive, Brighton, today and tomorrow

This is the final weekend the Luna Beach Cinema will be in Brighton. To close its run it will be showing a host of great films that can either be enjoyed by the whole family or on an intimate date.

This morning at 11.30am there is a children’s film trio of The Gruffalo, Zog and Highway Rat.

Following that will be 2019’s remake of the classic Disney tale of Aladdin, that takes place at 3.30pm.

And this evening Rami Malek takes on the role of Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody.

Tomorrow you can go early with your little ones to watch Finding Dory, the sequel to Finding Nemo.

You could then stay for the 3.30pm showing of Moana, another family friendly film.

And the Luna Beach Cinema’s run in Brighton comes to an end with yet another film that’s fun for the whole family as Emily Blunt stars in Mary Poppins Returns at 8pm.
