The Choir With No Name

All Saints Church, Hove, Saturday, September 21

FEELGOOD, foot-stomping classics from decades gone by will be the order of the day when The Choir With No Name performs in Hove next month.

The Choir With No Name is a UK charity that runs choirs for homeless and marginalised people, and they partnered with Brighton Housing Trust (BHT) to launch a Brighton choir in August last year.

It is the Brighton incarnation of the choir that will be performing in Hove to celebrate its first birthday.

They will be backed by a full live band and joined by special guests, and all funds raised will go towards supporting homeless people in Brighton.

Members of the choir get together at One Church in the city centre every Monday evening to rehearse, and sit down for a hot meal together afterwards.

It is considered a “vital support network” for isolated members of the community.

The concert will feature music from The Beatles to Blondie, Primal Scream to Fleet Foxes, and Jackie Wilson to The Beach Boys, as well as a special showcase of songs by Brighton artists.

There will be plenty of opportunities for the audience to sing along and join in the fun, as well as to hear more about the work the choir does to support the homeless community in Brighton.

Money raised from the evening will go towards the cost of the choir, meaning they can continue to run weekly rehearsals, all year round.

Choir manager Alex Procter said: “We’re so excited to have reached this milestone. In that time, we’ve welcomed more than 150 people who’ve experienced homelessness or marginalisation through our doors.

“Our community is one of real friendship, support and joy, founded in creativity and singing.”

Tickets for the gig cost £8 or £5 concessions and can be purchased online.
