EIGHTIES pop band Simply Red will come to the south coast next year as part of a nationwide tour.

The band, fronted by red haired frontman Mick Hucknall will play the Brighton Centre on October 21, 2020.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow at 10am.

The group burst onto the scene in 1985 with their cover of The Valentine Brothers hit Money’s Too Tight To Mention.

For the next decade and a half the band would continue to be one of the biggest acts in the country.

But it wasn’t just in the UK where the Manchester band saw their popularity sky-rocket.

Hits like Holding Back the Years and If You Don’t Know Me by Now saw the group reach number one in the US charts.

On top of this the group have also enjoyed five UK number one albums and won the Best British Group awards at the Brits for two years running in 1992 and 1993.

The band went on a hiatus in 2010, when Hucknall was the only founding member left.

However, such was the demand for the group to reform that they couldn’t say no.

They got back together in 2015 and fans went wild.

They have been touring together since, and have recorded two studio albums since their reformation... 2015’s Big Love and Blue Eyed Soul which is set for release in November.

Next year’s tour will see the group perform all of their classic hits as well as some of their newer tracks.

The fact that the group are still able to perform at big venues like the Brighton Centre is a testament to their staying power.

The show in Brighton will make up one date of 12 the group will play across the UK in the autumn of 2020.

The tour will culminate on October 24, 2020, with a show at London’s 02 Arena.

Tickets for the show at the Brighton Centre are available from tomorrow and start at £72.50.
