Lianne La Havas
De La Warr Pavilion, Marina, Bexhill, Saturday, March 12
LIANNE La Havas had a great end to 2015 with the news her album Blood has been nominated for a Grammy award, having already reached number two in the UK charts.
Previously the London-born songwriter was best known as a close personal friend to Prince – who launched a series of 2014 pop-up shows in the capital from her flat.
But now she has built on the critical acclaim which met her 2012 debut album Is Your Love Big Enough, and its attendant single Forget.
The Grammy nomination for best urban contemporary album, which will be announced in February, joins three MOBO Award nominations in the categories best album, best female act and best R&B/soul act.
This year has seen her play a sold-out show at the Brixton Academy, and sets at Glastonbury, Bestival, Latitude, The Secret Garden Party and Mumford And Sons’ Gentlemen Of The Road festival.
Next year sees her release a deluxe stripped-back edition of her career-making album, as well as a series of solo club performances in the US ahead of her Bexhill debut.
Doors 7pm, tickets £17.50. Call 01424 229111.
