Anyone who came early to Crowded House's December show at The Brighton Centre would have caught the dreadlocked Peter Wilson performing under his mantle The Duke Special. The Belfast-based purveyor of hobo-chic uses a variety of acoustic instruments ranging from old fashioned gramophones, velvet-encased upright pianos and euphoniums to get his vaudeville-influenced romantic songs across.
Certainly he's an acquired taste, but his 2006 major label debut album Songs From The Deep Forest still ended up in many critics' best of the year lists, garnering comparisons to Rufus Wainwright and The Divine Comedy.
