When they formed in New Zealand South Island’s second largest city Dunedin, The Clean were little more than a local concern.

But more than 30 years later the trio has been cited as a major influence on the likes of Pavement’s Steve Malkmus, Yo La Tengo and Camper Van Beethoven.

Led by brothers Hamish and David Kilgour, the trio has split and reformed several times over the years, topping the charts in their home country and becoming a 1980s college radio staple in the US.

They are currently in the UK for the All Tomorrow’s Parties festival in Minehead next weekend, and supporting the newly reformed American band at Brixton Academy on Monday.

Starts 7.30pm, tickets £9.50/£12.50.
