Never before has a tour title made such a bold statement.

“It is a lyric from [previous single] All Fired Up – we wanted the title to come from the album and didn’t want a track name. It just seemed like the perfect thing because of what it means,” says singer Mollie King.

Over the past three years, the five-strong girl group have certainly earned their pop stripes, deservedly winning a place in the nation’s pop consciousness. One need only look at their regular placing in the upper echelons of the charts for proof of their popularity. Their continued success no doubt comes from the group’s ability to evolve musically coupled with a genuine love for the craft and each other.

“We just try to make the best pop music we can, and with that we try to bring in all sorts of different things.

We cater for everyone,” King laughs.

“We always find ourselves moving on with each album. You don’t want it to sound like the last one otherwise there’s no need for people to buy it. We try to evolve by listening to what is current and what’s working at the moment.”

This explains their current dance-pop vibe. Gone is the hi-octane power pop, replaced by a grittier, urban feel resplendent in tracks like Notorious and the aforementioned All Fired Up.

“At the moment there is dance music everywhere, so we thought we’d mix a bit of The Saturdays with some dance and see what we come up with,”

King explains.

“When you listen to the radio it’s very Rihanna and Lady Gaga-based.

You don’t want to be a sheep and follow people, but it is good to know what’s working and what sounds good.

I think the five of us all have very different tastes, but when we agree on something, we think, ‘Right, let’s go for it!’ We’re young girls as well – we know what we like to hear.”

To play venues the size of the Brighton Centre is clearly a dream come true for the group.

“We really feel like we’re where we want to be. When we first started we were supporting Girls Aloud on their arena tour, so we’ve seen how magical it is,” admits King.

“When we played here last, it was part of a theatre tour, which meant production-wise we couldn’t do everything we’d always dreamt of doing, so this show is going to be much bigger.

“We’re stepping it up a notch, and as it is Christmas it’ll be a little bit festive. It’s going to be a party night – we want everyone to come out with their friends and let their hair down.”

Given the show’s promised bombast, it’s likely to be a glitzy affair and the only thing set to dwarf the number of hit singles they perform will be the number of costume changes expected.

“Of course!” she laughs. “We’re five girls!”
