Jazz, blues and classical music provide the basis of a new collection of pieces by an award-winning choreographer.

The Henri Oguike Dance Company is performing four dance pieces, including two new works, at the Gardner Arts Centre on Tuesday.

Oguike, who won the prestigious Jerwood Award for choreography in 1997, made his first foray into the world of jazz with the first new piece Green In Blue which sees him team up with contemporary composer Iain Ballamy.

The second new piece sees the company of eight dancers fired up by Vivaldi's violin concertos, while Expression Lines and Tiger Dancing are inspired by music from blues guitarist Ali Farka Toure and classical composer Steve Martland.
