Former Rear Of The Year and chart-topping pop star Frank Skinner is returning to where his career began, the stand-up mic, for the first time in ten years.

Frank was inspired to perform as a stand-up when he visited the 1987 Edinburgh Festival. Four years of hard work later he had scooped the prestigious Perrier Award for his comedy.

His first television spot on Central Weekend received 131 complaints, including one from MP Edwina Currie, but it didn't stop him getting picked to perform at the 1993 Royal Variety Performance and he was the headliner at that year's Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal.

It was his pairing with David Baddiel for the BBC's Fantasy Football League in 1994 that saw him hit the big time nationally. The Royal Television Society award-nominated show, which eventually transferred to ITV, was followed by nine series of his own comedy chat show and the Baddiel and Skinner Unplanned series.

His ability to offend hasn't been dulled by his time away from the stand-up scene. His recent Edinburgh show included routines about the links between paedophilia and childhood obesity, and his appreciation of granny porn: "They all look so happy!"
