Motionhouse Dance Theatre has made its name presenting ferociously dynamic performance combined with theatricality, imagery and strong emotional impact.
In its latest show, Driven, artistic director Kevin Finnan promises a roller-coaster ride of powerful urges: love and loss, jealousy and ambition, longing and isolation.
"It's about the 'live fast, die young' culture of the 21st century," he says. "The characters in the show are racing in the fast lane, chasing after ambition, success and partners and consuming life at a breakneck speed, until something happens that stops them in their tracks."
Combining aerial skills, dance and film, five men and women collide on stage, scrambling, throwing and leaping over each other in their drive to be winners - until the death of their friend in a nightclub changes their lives irrevocably.
Against a techno and house imbued soundtrack by Sophy Smith and Tim Dickinson, their rituals of courtship, competition and hedonism are presented as a stark contrast to how they are affected by the death.
Kevin says: "We hurl the audience into this amazing, cinematic world on stage with a dynamic score, colourful film, lots of life and flying, which reflects the allure of the characters' world. But as their lives literally fall apart around them, the show serves as a reminder to take time to remember the important things in life.
"In moving so fast, we can miss a lot of things, like our precious relationships, that we should invest more time in."
