Fledgling company Monoview Productions makes a hardhitting debut with a fresh look at Harold Pinter's brooding classic, The Caretaker.
A wheedling, devious down-and-out realises he is onto a winner when he is invited to stay with two mysterious brothers, the spivvy and wily Mick and seemingly slow-witted Aston. His attempts to establish himself in the household upset the delicate balance of the brothers' lives and sets up a bleakly comic and volatile dynamic as they jostle for pole position.
Pinter's signature style, with its flashes of absurdity and supreme naturalism, keep us hooked as the three battle to keep reality at bay.
The Caretaker is directed by Emma Kilbey (Sweetspot Theatre, EastEnders), and stars talented ACT students Matt Weyland, Marcus Taylor and Jos Lawton.
