About a bullied kid who triumphs, The Who's Tommy is the ultimate rousing rock musical. Deaf, dumb and blind, Tommy witnesses the murder of his mother's lovers by his father and goes through childhood in a state of catatonia, enduring a life of ridicule.
That is until he discovers pinball - then, Tommy is the Pinball Wizard, who goes on to become an international superstar of the highest order.
First released as a rock opera concept album in 1969, Tommy went on to become a Seventies cult classic film and a groundbreaking live show in the Nineties. It was nominated for 11 Tony Awards and went on to win five, as well as a Grammy.
The show features well known songs such as Pinball Wizard, Amazing Journey and Sensation.
This production is from Brighton theatre troupe Group, whose previous shows have included La Cage Aux Folles and Sweeney Todd.
They say the show will be enjoyed by all generations of rock lovers as well as traditional musical buffs.
