THE Charm Hotel and Spa is tucked away just off the seafront in the heart of Brighton’s vibrant Kemp Town district, within walking distance of many of the city’s major attractions, including the Brighton Palace Pier, the Royal Pavilion, shopping in The Lanes and the North Laine – and you can see the beach from the hotel.

It is ideal to arrive in the afternoon so you have time for some shopping ahead of a night out as the hotel has its own spa treatment area, which is what really sets it apart.

You can get a massage, a facial or visit the steam room.

The extensive refurbishment just over two years ago has transformed this former period townhouse into a luxury boutique hotel.

In the last year, the hotel has acquired the property next door and added the recent extension and addition of nine-bedroom suites and the New Charm Spa Suite.

It now offers 34 rooms over four floors, which range from compact doubles to the super-swish sea-view king balcony suites.

Original features such as elegant marble fireplaces and ceiling cornicing have been blended with modern touches.

There are rich fabrics and wallpapers, gilt mirrors and individual artwork throughout, while guests benefit from organic toiletries, goose feather down pillows and duvets and comfy Hypnos beds.

The suites also have free wi-fi, Samsung TVs, Nespresso coffee machines and beautiful freestanding baths.

Room rates include breakfast and it’s an impressive affair at the Charm. The buffet selection includes fresh juices, pastries, fruit and waffles, while you can order hot dishes such as eggs Benedict and a full English breakfast off the menu.

It really is a beautiful building with lovely spacious bedroom suites and the breakfast is a joy. The eggs Benedict is particularly good after a night out, as is the vegetarian breakfast, I can tell you.

As the restaurant serves breakfast only, you’ll need to venture out for lunch and dinner, but there are plenty of options nearby. There is the buzzing St James’s Street, where you can find plenty of options.

Continue along this street for ten minutes and you’ll soon hit Brighton’s famous Lanes, home to antique stores, jewellers and designer boutiques and a whole host of other trendy restaurants and shops.
