A 38-year-old man died in a car crash on a country road near Lewes this morning.
The crash happened in Cooksbridge Road, between Barcombe Cross and Deadmantree Hill, just before 1.10am today.
Sussex Police said the black Audi A3 hatchback car was travelling westbound at the time.
A spokesman said: "It was a single vehicle being driven by a 40-year-old local man.
"He lost control and sadly died at the scene."
Police initially said the man was 40.
He is understood to be from the Cooksbridge area. He has not been formally identified and his name has not been released publicly.
Anyone who saw what happened is asked to call Sussex Police on 101, quoting Operation Draught.
