A driver struck a pedestrian but sped off before police arrived.

The car hit the 24-year old local man in Claremont, Hastings, near the junction with Trinity Street, at about 1.55am on Sunday February 17.

The pedestrian was treated at Conquest Hospital for a head injury before being allowed home. The car stopped at the scene but left before police arrived.

Sergeant Stacey Ellott of the Sussex Road Policing Unit at Polegate said; "We are appealing for the driver of the car, and anyone who may have information that could assist in the investigation, to contact us via 101 quoting serial 0163 of 17/2."
