These bright sparks were shown science can be fun.

Pia, 10, and Rex, seven, were delighted by the bubble organ at the Bright Sparks event at Hove Park School, part of Brighton Science Festival.

The National Physical Laboratory created the organ and brought the science of bubbles to life in an exhibit fresh from the Royal Society summer exhibition.

Visitors could create sound using bubbles, create bubbles using sound and use the sound of bubbles in medicine.

Other exhibits at the festival on Saturday included a huggable Madagascan hissing cockroach from Drusillas, a mock archaeological dig courtesy of South Downs National Park and a mobile rock pool from Brighton Sea Life Centre.
