I see our Conservative MP Simon Kirby has spoken out against proposals by Labour leader Ed Miliband to increase tax on owners of properties worth more than £2 million in order to fund a tax cut for low earners (The Argus, February 16).

Why has he not spoken out against the bedroom tax where hundreds of people in his constituency, including foster carers, disabled people and parents of people serving in the Armed Forces, will lose £80 a month from April because of his Government’s actions?

Why not a word from him when his Government is giving millionaires an annual £40,000 tax cut from this year?

Why has he remained silent on cuts to NHS funding, which have resulted in the doubling of waiting times in A&E?

Why hasn’t he spoken up for people looking for work who are being forced to work for no pay under his Government’s scheme meaning there are fewer proper jobs on offer and bigger profits for big business?

Why no complaints when his Government is cutting £126 million from local council services in Brighton over the next five years?

Isn’t it time we had an MP who spoke up for local residents struggling to make ends meet, and not millionaires in mansions?
