I am absolutely disgusted with Brighton and Hove City Council for taking away bowling greens from clubs which have been using them for many years.

In our case, it is our 75th anniversary this year and not only has the council taken away two bowling greens but also our club house.

All matches this year have already been offered and confirmed.

We have had little notice of this extraordinary behaviour and all we are told is they have to save money somewhere.

Why not sell a painting? The council’s collection is worth £32 million. That should keep the Greens going for a number of years.

I can’t understand why the Letters page has not been inundated with letters from bowlers in East Sussex.

Can anybody please justify what this council is doing, and why? Conservatives, Labour or the Greens, please speak up.
