A mother said her murdered daughter was a “ray of sunshine”.
Samantha’s mother, Amelia Greening, yesterday (February 19) paid tribute to her daughter, who was stabbed multiple times in Queen Square, Brighton.
Samantha, 24, who friends said had just moved to Brighton, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital but died shortly after being stabbed at about 9pm on Sunday. February 17.
Speaking from her home in Luton, Bedfordshire, yesterday Ms Greening, 42, said: “Sam was a ray of sunshine and meant so much to so many people.
“She was close to her family and had been back to visit us a few times since she moved.
“She was here in January to meet her new little sister.
“She had so many friends and it has kept me going the past couple of days seeing them writing their messages on Facebook.
“She will be sorely missed.”
Family support
Baby sister, Lisa, was born just before Christmas to Ms Greening and Samantha's stepfather John Creswell, 57.
Samantha also had a half-brother Ali, five, and a half-sister, Theresa Creswell, 21.
Theresa is behind a Facebook group for Samantha which has generated a huge number of supporters.
Yesterday, Theresa said: “Sam was someone who loved partying, going out, drinking, having fun.
“She had so many friends and was always smiling.”
A friend of Samantha’s, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “She was such a lovely girl. It’s so sad.
“She had just made friends with a new group of people and just moved to Brighton.”
Today (February 20) Ty Medland, 25, was charged with his wife's murder.
