Youngsters are giving Newhaven Fort a fresh lick of paint before it reopens in March.
The 16 to 24-year-olds on the Prince’s Trust team programme at Sussex Downs College have taken on the project.
For three days last week and four days this week they have been redecorating the Grand Magazine.
The youngsters have painted silhouettes and cannons on the walls to make a visit to the fort a more fun experience.
They have also created and put up information boards about the fort, painted one of the big six-inch guns, and repainted the railings and hazard lines.
The group will also be fundraising next week to cover the costs of the work, with any remaining funds being donated to the fort to help to fund future projects.
They will be in Newhaven precinct running a book, DVD, CD and cake sale and will also be running a sponsored walk from the college to the Cuckmere River and back.
On the river they will be holding a duck race, with prizes donated by businesses for the winners.
