The hunt is on to find the stars who work at the busiest hospital trust in Sussex.

Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, in association with The Argus, is holding its fourth annual Hospital Star Awards and needs help from people across the county.

Hundreds of nominations for the various categories were received last year and organisers hope this year will be even bigger and better than before.

The 2013 awards recognise the efforts of all frontline and behind the scenes workers at Royal Sus- sex County Hospital, Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital and the Sussex Eye Hospital in Brighton.

It also includes Princess Royal Hospital and Hurstwood Park Neurosciences Centre in Haywards Heath.

Patients, families, residents and hospital staff are invited to send in their nominations.

You may have been particularly impressed with the care a nurse, doctor or midwife gave you while in hospital.

You may want to recognise the receptionist who meets you whenever you’ve got an appointment.

Perhaps there was a volunteer who went out of their way to help you?

Whatever the reasons, now is the time to give that individual or team the recognition you believe they deserve.

Categories are the same as last year, including the good news story of the year.

This is anything that may have happened that could have led to a good news story in The Argus or made a headline in the paper.

Trust chief executive Matthew Kershaw said: “The Star Awards are such an important event in the hospital calendar.

Last year we received more than 600 nominations, each one for someone who had made a positive lasting impression on a patient or colleague, and previous winners have spoken about how good it feels to know that what they do is appreciated.

If an individual or a team within the hospital has made a positive difference to you in the last 12 months, then please do take a moment to nominate them.”

The closing date for nominations is May 17 and an awards ceremony will take place at the Corn Exchange in Brighton on September 10.

As in previous years, the winners will be decided by a panel of independent judges.
