A 74-year-old man has died in a car crash after falling ill at the wheel.
The elderly Hastings motorist was at the wheel of a Hyundai car which crashed off the road the A21 at Hurst Green near Robertsbridge and into a tree today.
After the crash at about 12.40pm, a number of people quickly went to his aid and paramedics arrived shortly after but the man died at the scene.
The road was closed at Station Road northbound and at the Coopers Cross junction with the A229 while rescue and recovery work took place and re-opened an hour and a half later.
