The seafront looked more like a Martian outpost than a traditional resort as one of the more unusual Festival installations was in town.
Thousands flocked to see and hear the world premiere of Audible Forces at Hove Beach.
The Oxford Contemporary Music creation was made up of various bizarre-looking contraptions which use the power of the wind to make all manner of strange sounds.
As well as hollow domes, small horns and noisy rotors, each day a flock of homing pigeons with whistles in their tail feathers were released to add to the experience.
