Former Celebrity Big Brother star Dane Bowers has pleaded not guilty to assault charges.

He is accused of two counts of assault after a brawl at Butlin’s in Bognor.

The former Another Level singer was the headline act at a 1990s night at the resort when the incident happened on April 20.

The 33-year-old DJ, from Coulsdon, Surrey, appeared at Worthing Magistrates’ Court to face the two charges yesterday. After he entered not guilty pleas the case was adjourned for a trial.

He is accused of assaulting Lewis Barwise. He is also accused of assaulting Adam Callaghan on the same day.

Bowers’ brother, Wade Bowers, 31, also appeared in court in Worthing yesterday. He pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of cocaine but not guilty to assault by beating.

A third man, Terry Kean, 35, also pleaded guilty to cocaine possession but not guilty to using threatening words.

All three defendants were released on unconditional bail until the trial at Chichester Magistrates’ Court on October 29.

Bowers, a former Brit School student, became famous as a member of R&B band Another Level between 1997 and 2000. The band gained seven top ten singles in the UK, including a 1998 number one Freak Me and a platinum-selling self-titled album.

The group split in 2000 after which Bowers wrote and fronted two top 10 hits – Buggin and Out of Your Mind – for the UK garage act Truesteppers.

Bowers also topped the charts singing the duet Out Of Your Mind with Victoria Beckham.

He previously dated Katie Price and has also been romantically linked to model Jodie Marsh.

Bowers also starred in reality TV show Totally Boyband with former members of Steps, S Club 7, New Kids on the Block and 911 in a bid to resurrect the five men’s music careers.

He went on to appear in Celebrity Big Brother in 2010.
