Spring has sprung in glorious fashion.

Beautiful bluebells are out in force at the Pulborough Brooks RSPB nature reserve.

There have been concerns the flowers were making too late an arrival after a slow start to the season.

But following a spate of warm and bright weather, bluebells are starting to drench the Sussex countryside with a vibrant sheet of colour.

There are two types of bluebell found in the UK, native and Spanish. Cross-breeding between the two species means you may spot flowers that combine traits from both.

Native flowers are deep violet-blue, with a genetic mutation occasionally causing white flowers.

Spanish flowers are pale to mid-blue with little or no scent at all.
