Do you get so excited during Festival events that you lose your head?

Now fans have the chance to do just that – by taking on the part of a possessed head in a freak show.

Magician Andrew Van Buren, who brings his Victorian Wonders Carnival to Brighton Fringe on Saturday, is looking for an 18 to 30-year-old’s head – although the rest of the body is not required.

Auditions are being held tomorrowat the Studio Big Top in Victoria Gardens, with the selected head required for the run between May 25 and June 1.

Mr Van Buren said: “This year, for the first time ever, this amazing production is holding open auditions for a woman to become the possessed head of Scheherazade.

“Scheherazade’s head is balanced on a sword and she has no body – but we will keep the lucky person’s body in a safe place during the performances.

“This is a temporary contract for a week, and the person would need to be available during the whole week.”

The Victorian Wonders Carnival features three mind-bending sideshows, including The Headless Lady, The Disembodied Head of Scheherazade and The Mystifying Time Machine, all presented undercover in all their Victorian splendour.

Mr Van Buren said: “We are very excited about finding a new member of the team to join us in creating the magic and taking audiences on an unforgettable journey.

“The Victorian era was an amazing age and the carnival is an illustration and tribute to the shows that astounded audiences.

“Are you ready to enter a world where things are not what they seem?”

The auditions are being held from 11am to 2pm.
