A new film shows how families struggle to cope with dementia.

West Sussex County Council has published the film to coincide with Dementia Awareness Week this week, May 20 to the 24.

The video tells the story of Nora who has advanced dementia and lives with her husband in special flats where she cannot wander away.

The film also features Sereta who loves spending her time at a day centre so she can meet her friends – but cannot remember anything for longer than a few minutes.

The pair are just two of 13,000 people in Sussex with dementia.

Their relatives appear on camera to tell of the pain suffered by both families as their loved ones slowly slip away mentally.
