A Brighton charity will use a £3,950 grant to run workshops to health professionals about the needs of men suffering from eating disorders.
Men Get Eating Disorders Too is one of 97 projects in the South East to share a total of £722,422 in funding from the Big Lottery Fund.
The charity will educate professionals in sectors including mental health provision, health and social care and counselling about how to respond to male sufferers of eating disorders and recognise the barriers they face approaching treatment.
Eating disorders are now growing at twice as fast a rate among men and boys than among women and girls.
Charity founder and director Sam Thomas said: “Following on from last year’s feedback from the workshops, we know there is a need for the training we provide.
“Participants from the training highlighted the need for specific workshops that explore the needs of males with eating disorders.”
