In response to Tony Bloom’s wife Linda Bloom and her fight against multiple sclerosis (The Argus, June 10), it is very encouraging to see Mrs Bloom’s excellent work helping people with MS.

However, as someone who has had MS for 30 years, I am saddened that Mrs Bloom is yet another MS sufferer who has never been told about Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment (HBOT).

The Argus ran a feature I wrote on HBOT in December 2010.

HBOT is not a cure, but important statistical evidence involving a large number of people with MS has shown that long-term, regular HBOT helps with the management of MS symptoms and, most importantly, can slow down the progression of symptoms.

Obviously, the earlier one starts HBOT, when the damage is least acute, the better.

However, the majority of those who start HBOT and stick at it find benefit in their condition.

There are 60 MS treatment centres around the country, which provide a large range of therapies including HBOT.

These centres have been operating for 30 years.

I fortunately discovered HBOT in the early stages of MS and have attended the Sussex MS Treatment Centre in Southwick every week for more than 25 years. I would like to invite Mr and Mrs Bloom to come to our centre, which is open five days a week.
