Here we go again! The Greens, backed by Labour, want to waste more money on another complete folly: extending the Old Shoreham Road cycle lane (The Argus, July 5).
As Labour Councillor Gill Mitchell has said, “I know it’s controversial but I hope it goes ahead.” Well, if it’s so controversial, don’t do it!
The majority do not agree with this extravagant spending.
Personally I have rarely seen cycle lanes in Old Shoreham Road, The Drive and Upper Drive in use, which shows what a poor use of public funds this has been.
Furthermore, successive councils seem obsessed with increasing the size of pavements at road junctions for pedestrians who are just not there.
I predict that, in future, these lanes will be removed with the roads returned to their previous layouts.
