Disney's virtual world opened its doors to parents and young people in the hope of teaching online safety.

Children and parents were taught by Club Penguin what it takes to be an online moderator, and what is required to keep kids safe online.

The workshop involved demonstrations on how online moderation works and a behind the scenes look on how Club Penguin works.

Darcy Marshall, 13, from Brighton was one of five young people invited behind the scenes with the moderation team, where they learnt how the team helps millions of young people to play and interact online as freely and securely as possible in the global number one virtual world for children.

Across the globe, Club Penguin boasts 200 live moderators who look after its members in 190 countries, speaking in five languages, complementing the virtual world’s advanced filtering systems, allowing young people to chat online as freely, and securely.

Darcy said: “I’ve always wondered how Club Penguin keeps it safe and fun.”
