This year is the centenary of the Brighton, Hove and Sussex Sixth Form College (Bhasvic) building in Dyke Road, Hove.

Opened in September 1913 as the new home of the Brighton, Hove and Sussex Grammar School, within a year it had been requisitioned for use as a military hospital for the duration of the war.

Photographs from that time along with many others will be shown during a talk illustrating the changes to the building, which has been the home of Bhasvic since 1975.

To mark the building’s centenary, well-known architect and old boy of the grammar school John Wells-Thorpe will be talking about the construction of the building and the changes over the past 100 years.

I am sure it will appeal to people whether or not they were educated at this site.

The talk is on Wednesday, October 23, at 7pm. There is no charge but admission is by ticket, obtained from either the reception office at Bhasvic or by emailing megillingham@yahoo.co.uk.
