Charlie Baker - the cheeky chappie you can’t help but love and laugh with.
In Baker's Dozen the charismatic comedian with more energy than a child eating candyfloss took a tour through the past 13 years of top-selling tunes.
From ballads to Bob The Builder’s finest hour, the songs were performed in a range of styles - from breathtakingly well to stomach-tremblingly hilarious.
With more talent than just a skill for making people laugh, his voice – and that of his comedy sidekicks – filled the Dome Studio Theatre with ease.
The set lay over a backing track of music from a talented pianist and singer.
She sat on stage through the entire show and her reaction to Charlie’s jokes – from laughing, shaking her head or holding her forehead in her hands – often pre-empted the audience’s reaction to the punchlines, which was an unwelcome distraction from the set.
But Charlie’s hilarious repertoire, although perhaps a little too scripted at times, combined with his incredible ability to rap and sing his way through any style of song made for a thoroughly enjoyable show.
