From the outset, Future Of The Left showed a huge amount of strength, which refused to wane. There was no sign of tiredness as the raw passion came through in their set.

Tracks in the post-punk genre can often be easily forgettable, but the songs’ hooks, riffs, lyrics, bass and beats stuck in the mind.

The set built up gradually towards an epic finale. The lead singer’s warning about the 12 minutes of mayhem about to ensue was no deterrent.

There were fears in the crowd not that fans were getting too hectic but that the band members had lost it.

The drummer ran around the top of the bar banging a drum. Another band member was roaming around in the crowd wielding a broomstick.

Live, the tracks were more raw and shoutier than they sound on record.

But no mistakes can be made when they unleash their musical passion on a stage in front of you – you truly understand what they are about.
