We are disturbed to read the recently leaked information to The Argus concerning the proposed cuts that will directly impact on vulnerable, elderly and disabled people (November 28).
The problems of social isolation for older people are well documented and services such as day care centres can be a lifeline for many people.
Brighton has a significant elderly population and we do not accept that they should be in the frontline for reduced services.
We have yet to see the full budget proposals but the Older People’s Council will be vigorously contesting the type of reduction in services to care homes, home care and day care services outlined by The Argus.
Penny Morley, secretary, Older People’s Council
