Due to the adverse weather conditions we were unable to catch our train back from London on Christmas Eve. We waited at Victoria Station for two hours until a notice appeared stating “make your own arrangements home”.
We were lucky enough to then book a National Express coach via Heathrow, Gatwick, Brighton and, eventually, on to Eastbourne.
On reaching Pool Valley coach terminal in Brighton, we had to vacate the coach to then wait for a connection to take us to Eastbourne. At this time there were strong winds and heavy rain, the only shelter being the entrance to a car park.
We were very disappointed to find that there is not a proper coach station for the city of Brighton, where passengers can rest before proceeding with their journey.
Many thanks to the friendly taxi driver who drove us back to Eastbourne on such a terrible night.
With the number of coaches that pass through, surely the city needs to provide better facilities for travellers.
