I was saddened to hear of the death of Phil Everly.
The Everly Brothers performed several times in Brighton and I had the privilege of seeing them at The Dome Concert Hall in September 1995 when I was reporting for the Evening Argus, as it was then known.
The brothers, who had a fractious personal relationship, performed brilliantly that evening and reminded us of why The Beatles and Bob Dylan, to name just two musical greats, drew inspiration from them.
I recall that the Everlys performed several times at the Brighton Centre, in 1987, 89, 91, and 93, I believe. Sussex fans fortunately had many opportunities to see one of the finest and most influential acts in pop history.
